SMS vs. calling vs. live chat – any experience or case studies showing consumer preference for SMS?

Main Post:

I head marketing at a home service company. To book with us, our customers can book online, call, or use live chat. We get a lot of calls/chats.

In an effort to make it easier for customers to connect with (and increase conversion rate), I want to add SMS to the equation. Probably would advertise "Call/text us at 555-555-1234!".

My boss, on the other hand, is afraid that SMS isn't enough to "sway" someone (i.e. it won't impact conversion rate) and will instead bloat our call centre due to long, fragmented SMS conversations.

  1. Are there any SMS case studies that demonstrate success?
  2. Does anyone here have experience?
  3. Did you see a boost in bookings/revenue by adding SMS?

Phone is king. SMS can get response, should be used to push customer to a phone call to confirm appointment. Live chat can be a blessing and a curse. People love to chat and not give any Co tact I go, but want all of their questions answered.

I would try something like zipwhip to add text capability to your existing number, and make sure you have a solid process in place for responding, and converting sms Inquiries to phone calls to close them on an appointment, sale, etc

SMS Stats is now live on cydia

Main Post:

Hi reddit, My first application for cydia has just gone live, it's called SMS Stats and I would really appreciate it if you could check it out. The app allows you to;

  • See total amount of texts/iMessage you have sent and received
  • See stats for the last month (useful for contract limits)
  • See you most contacted number
  • see stats for an individual contact

Thanks for reading this post, please go check it out and ask me if you have any questions ([email protected])

Keepme.live site for SMS donations

Main Post:

Hi, i don't know how much people are aware about site known as Keepmelive where you can get donations over SMS. I am using this site from 2019 and until now i didn't have any problems that is big, and when i did, they would answer really quick. But now, my payment was rejected and i don't know why, and also i don't get reply on any known email adress, not from support on site, or even i tried to contact it over email for payment. Does anyone else using this site? What is happening?

You've received money from this site? It's not even complete. It's got a template site loaded with test features.

Edit to add: now I see. It's a streaming site for you to stream and collect donations. I Googled it and it's got a lot of low scores across most reviews. I'd look for a different streaming service.

20+ Year Old Paid Hotmail Account Temp Blocked, SMS Verification Broken, Support Useless—Anyone Else?

Main Post:

Hey all, I’m beyond frustrated with Microsoft right now and wanted to vent/share my experience since I’m seeing others hit the same wall. I’ve got a Hotmail account over 20 years old—my main email for everything, and it’s even a paid account tied to some legacy services. For the last two days, it’s been temp blocked due to what I’m guessing are automated login attempts from hackers. Every 72 days, like clockwork, my password expires (thanks to a reminder I stupidly enabled), and I’m stuck in this loop. Here’s the rundown:

  • Trying “Forgot password” gets me a code to my backup email (finally, after rate limits), but the SMS option just spits out “That verification method isn’t working right now, try another method.” Been like this since yesterday morning.
  • Jumped through every hoop—sign-in helper, waiting overnight, single attempts to avoid throttling. No dice.
  • Contacted support, and their brilliant response? A generic email with a link to https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx Like seriously? That’s the same page I’m locked out of! No explanation, no escalation, just “go reset it” when the whole issue is I can’t.

How is this how Microsoft treats long-time customers, especially paying ones? I’ve seen posts here about SMS verification crapping out, and it’s clearly not just me. Anyone else with an old account getting screwed like this? Did support ever actually help, or am I stuck waiting for this block to magically lift? Thinking of ditching this account for my Microsoft 365 email instead—20 years of hooking it to everything makes that a nightmare, though. Any tips?

Top Comment: I had the same thing since Saturday 8pm GMT. Kept saying wrong password too many times (well I know I only put in the correct password once so that was a load of rubbish). Then like yourself I kept getting the ‘that method of verification isn’t working’ every time I tried to send a password reset by SMS. Very frustrating as my account is 20+ years old and tied to everything. In the end I filled out the recovery form (when the SMS failed there was the option to click a button which said something like ‘I don’t have access to this number’) - which I would recommend you do but good luck with providing enough evidence! It asks for email addresses you’ve recently emailed, exact wording you’ve used in subject headings of emails you’ve recently sent. About 60 hours later I’ve FINALLY managed to recover the account as they’ve accepted my recovery form and that yes, it’s me, and allowed me to reset my password. Hope you manage to recover your account.
